David Hardt's Platform
David Hardt is running for president of the Young Democrats of America because he recognizes power of young voters to secure a permanent Democratic majority in America. David Hardt will help make this potential future real by:
Doubling YDA’s Fundraising Goals. As a professional in the finance industry, a member of many non-profit organizations and a leader within his local Democratic Party, David understands the role of fundraising in building a successful, sustainable organization. David has led the way in raising funds for his local and state Young Democrats organizations. He has worked to raise funds for Democratic candidates for local, state and national offices. As President, David Hardt will ensure that YDA has the funds necessary to support its programs and grow the organization.
Continuing and Expanding YDA's Field Programs. The non-traditional field programs organized by YDA during recent election cycles have been remarkably successful. YDA has proven that it can mobilize young voters to turn out for Democratic candidates. As President, David Hardt will expand YDA’s field programs so that our organization can reach and energize even more young voters from across the nation. Every community is unique, so David Hardt will work with local leaders and YD organizations to tailor each field program to its target region.
Improving Minority Representation. As leader of the Dallas County Young Democrats, David Hardt expanded the club's presence among traditionally underrepresented communities. By recruiting young African-American and Latino leaders into the organization, David assembled the most diverse Board of Directors in the history of DCYD. As YDA President, David will continue to act on his lifelong commitment to diversity and inclusion. David will ensure that YDA represents the interests of, and is accessible to, young Democrats from every community in America.
Empowering Local Chapters. Most of the great work done by the Young Democrats is organized and executed through our many local chapters. As a former local chapter president, David recognizes the importance of YDA’s local organizations. As national president, David Hardt will empower local chapters by providing them the tools they need to mobilize their young voters. When given the resources, training and information they need to turn out their voters, local YDA chapters and leaders will become an indispensable component of national Democratic victory.
Expanding YDA Across the Nation. Too many states and communities lack an organized Young Democrats presence. As President, David Hardt will work with local and state party leaders to ensure that every state has a chartered Young Democrats organization. David will ensure that YDA events remain affordable, so that members from all parts of the country have the opportunity to participate in YDA's national conventions, meetings and trainings.
David Hardt will be a YDA President who recognizes the contributions made by every member and every club, and he will work tirelessly to ensure that the programs of the Young Democrats of America have the support and resources necessary to elect Democrats to every office in America.
